Our 2008 Conference included the following sessions and presenters:
Kelly Forrister is a member of the David Allen Team and expert trainer in “Getting Things Done.” With an emphasis in consulting, coaching, and facilitating, she has worked closely with David Allen researching, developing, and training user interfaces with personal management systems. Based in California, she has held positions at Time/Design, Productivity Development Group, and Actioneer.
Stan White is President & CEO of Forest Home Ministries in Cali-fornia. With an extensive history in Christian Camping, Stan brings first-hand expertise on planning and developing, most recently with a multi-million dollar new camp at Camp Nacimiento Malibu. He and his wife make their home at Forest Home and have two adult sons.
Sharon Kosch is an ACA national standards trainer, and chair of the National Public Policy Committee. She has served on the ACA national board of directors, and serves as standards chair on the Nor Cal ACA board of directors. With 25 years of experience in camp administration with Girl Scouts, she is a consultant in not for profit organizational management, best practices and educational design.
Mike Pate serves as Executive Director of Camping for Transformation Ministries. Under Mike's leadership, the camps in Southern Cal and Arizona have grown significantly with an emphasis on great camping programs and guest hospitality. When Executive Director of Thousand Pines, Mike shepherded the camp through some of the most challenging natural disasters the camp has ever seen, including the largest forest fire and bark beetle plague in California's history. Mike lives at Thousand Pines with his wife and four kids.
Our 2007 Conference focused on spiritual formation for leaders, risk management, and technology.
Spiritual Leadership - Glandion Carney was our presenter. With a diverse background in ministry, Glandion felt compelled in 1995 to start Centrepoint: A Community for Spiritual Formation in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and presently consults with groups seeking to be more intentional about spiritual formation.
Risk Management – Richard J. Schaber, manager of the Risk Control Department at Church Mutual Insurance Company in Merrill, WI, was our presenter. His presentation looked at real losses experienced by religious camps and conference centers across the country.
The Technology Advantage – We held a roundtable process exploring ideas such as developing an On-Line Discipleship Community, the impact of Cell Phones/ Web Sites/ Email on camping ministry, and uses of Digital Photography/Videos.
